# Unilateral Chasing and Courtship-Like Display as Dominance Signals for Hierarchy Maintenance in Male Medaka Fish

## Raw data for Figure 1

### File_name: "Raw_data_for_Fig_1_Attack/Bite.csv"

This CSV file corresponds to the raw data for "Attack/Bite" in Figure 1. The experiments range from #1 to #8, showing the results of counting the number of behavioral elements every 10 minutes in a 90-minute experiment. T (Top), L (Left), and R (Right) indicate the three individuals used in the experiment, corresponding to their positions in the diagram of Figure 1. The direction of the behaviors is indicated by the following codes:

- TL: Behavior from T to L
- LT: Behavior from L to T
- TR: Behavior from T to R
- RT: Behavior from R to T
- RL: Behavior from R to L
- LR: Behavior from L to R

### File_name: "Raw_data_for_Fig_1_Chase.csv"

This CSV file corresponds to the raw data for "Chase" in Figure 1. The experiments range from #1 to #8, showing the results of counting the number of behavioral elements every 10 minutes in a 90-minute experiment. T (Top), L (Left), and R (Right) indicate the three individuals used in the experiment, corresponding to their positions in the diagram of Figure 1. TL, LT, TR, RT, RL, and LR indicate the direction of the behavior, showing interactions from T to L, L to T, T to R, R to T, R to L, and L to R, respectively.

This CSV file corresponds to the raw data for "FL Display" in Figure 1. The experiments range from #1 to #8, showing the results of counting the number of behavioral elements every 10 minutes in a 90-minute experiment. T (Top), L (Left), and R (Right) indicate the three individuals used in the experiment, corresponding to their positions in the diagram of Figure 1. Since FL Display is a bidirectional behavior, only TL, TR, and RL are shown, indicating interactions from T to L, T to R, and R to L, respectively.

## Raw data for Figure 2

### File_name: "Raw_data_for_Fig_2B.csv"

This CSV file, based on Raw_Data_for_Fig_3, shows the number of Attacks/Bites before and after the first "Chase" for each pair (TL, TR, RL). In Fig. 2, the results of calculating the frequency per minute from these numbers are shown before and after the first "Chase". Pairs that did not show any "Chase"  during the 90-minute period are indicated as "None", and the total number of attacks over the 90-minute period is shown in the "After Attack" column for these pairs.

### File_name: "Raw_data_for_Fig_2C.csv"

This CSV file, based on Raw_Data_for_Fig_3, shows the number of Attacks/Bites before and after the first "Courtship-like Display" for each pair (TL, TR, RL). In Fig. 2, the results of calculating the frequency per minute from these numbers are shown before and after the first "Courtship-like Display". Pairs that did not show any "Courtship-like Display" during the 90-minute period are indicated as "None", and the total number of attacks over the 90-minute period is shown in the "After Attack" column for these pairs.

These Excel files contain raw data from Experiments 1 to 10 as depicted in Figure 3. The data captures the exact times when each behavioral element—"Attack/Bite", "Chase", "Courtship-like Display", and "FL Display"—occurred during a 90-minute observation period. The three individuals involved in the experiment are labeled T (Top), L (Left), and R (Right), corresponding to their positions in the diagram of Figure 3. Since FL Display is a bidirectional behavior, only TL, TR, and RL are shown, indicating interactions from T to L, T to R, and R to L, respectively. The direction of the behaviors ("Attack/Bite", "Chase", and "Courtship-like Display") is indicated by the following codes:

These CSV files contain raw data from Experiments 1 to 7 as depicted in Figure 5. Each experiment was conducted over two consecutive days, and there are separate files for each day of each experiment. The data captures the exact times when each behavioral element—"Attack/Bite", "Chase", "Courtship-like Display", and "FL Display"—occurred during a 90-minute observation period. The three individuals involved in the experiment are labeled T (Top), L (Left), and R (Right), corresponding to their positions in the diagram of Figure 3.
